Will the red LED hurt my child's eyes?

No, it will not.

It is well known that Red Light Therapy that is produced with Red LED helps to stimulate the production of melatonin in the brain, which in turn helps with sleep.

The question we’ve been asked is, does it do damage to the eyes? The answer is NO, it does not!

We are going to get scientific here for a moment.
The wavelengths of light that are harmful to your eyes are blue, violet + UV (there are others, but these are the most well-known). The wavelengths emitted from these types of light are measured between 200nm – 480 nm (nm = measurement of wavelengths). Anything that measures in this rating is harmful to the eyes.

The Red LED, like the ones in your Glow Dreaming, emit wavelengths measured at 670nm, and it is also projected at an angle. Some people get this confused with laser light which is incredibly harmful as it is projected directly into the retina. Red laser light and red LED light are two different lights!

In fact, Red Light Therapy has many restorative benefits outside of the sleep space! Red Light Therapy has helped in areas of visual acuity, cataracts, diabetic retno therapy, muscular degeneration, and refractive errors – and that is just to name a few off a long list!

We hope this gives you the reassurance you were after, and you can rest easy knowing that your little one’s eyes are in safe hands.
