The best settings for daytime and night time sleep

Newborns and growing children need much more sleep than teens and adults, and most of the time this is not achievable in one long night’s rest.

Young children need to nap throughout the day to achieve amount of rest they need, for their growing minds and bodies.

Below are the recommended hours of sleep that a child should be getting at each age stage:

  • Infants (4-11 months):  12-15 hours
  • Toddlers (1-2 years):  11-14 hours
  • Pre-schoolers (3-5):  10-13 hours

But getting children down for naps is easier said than done. There are so many things that can stimulate your child during the day and putting them down for a nap can be like an emotional game of tug of war! Luckily, Glow Dreaming works just as well for day sleeps as it does for night time.

We’re going to look at the best possible settings to get the most out of your Glow Dreaming for daytime naps. It’s simple really, you just need to use the same settings as night time! Depending on which settings your child responds to at night, you should be using those same settings for the day.

This will create a consistent pattern, in fact even the act of performing the bedtime routine can have an impact on making your child tired for their nap. This includes 20 minutes of wind down time with the Red LED and humidifier with Glow Lullaby Essential Oil drops, and then adding the sound once it’s time for the nap.

The specific settings of each function will vary depending on your child’s age. One difference between the settings for night and day however, is we recommend setting the timer to either 2 or 4 hours, depending on how long you want their nap to last.

The Red LED light is for sleep, and the Green LED light is for concentration, focus and relaxation while they’re awake. Be consistent for 6 nights, and remember our Glow Sleep Specialists are here to support you, as well as our sleep analysis system which is the most comprehensive of it's kind, MSS Archangel. This sleep system focuses on the psychological, behavioural and physical environments to ensure the right sleep solution is found for your specific needs.
